Technology vendor awards
Best front office platform
This award will go to the vendor that has introduced innovation across the functions traditionally associated with the front office (OMS/EMS/portfolio management/algorithmic trading and decision support) over the last 12 months (March 2019 - March 2020).
Best middle office platform
This award will go to the vendor that has introduced innovation across the functions traditionally associated with the middle office (risk management/performance measurement and attribution/reporting and compliance) over the last 12 months (March 2019 - March 2020).
Best back office platform
This award will go to the vendor that has introduced innovation across the functions traditionally associated with the back office (reconciliation and clearing and settlement) over the last 12 months (March 2019 - March 2020).
This category will be awarded to the firm that demonstrated the most successful acquisition, which brought on new business opportunities while ensuring smooth integration and execution.
Best AI-based solution
This category will be awarded to the most innovative use of AI technology in a product or service in a live environment within a sell-side or buy-side firm. Entrants must provide details of the deployment including the name of the end-user firm. Please note that all entry information is strictly confidential.
Best alternative data provider
The winning provider is a market pioneer finds new opportunities in utilising alternative data. The solution should demonstrate efficiency and effectiveness in exploiting various unconventional data formats that generate faster information feed.
Best data analytics solution
Solution must be able to interrogate large data volumes, and produce actionable analysis based on that information discovery, illustrating the business benefits to clients.
Best distributed ledger technology
The winning entry in this category should explain the DLT product's applicability to their clients, focusing on the business benefits accruing to clients that implement such platforms/products.
Platforms should feature multi-broker/exchange connectivity; pre-trade transaction cost analysis (TCA); algorithmic trading tools and DMA; and should show strong integration capabilities with OMSs.
Best enterprise data management provider
The winner of this award will demonstrate that their product improves data quality and reduces costs across the enterprise through the standardization and consolidation of data management systems/tools.
Best exchange in Asia
The winner of this award will demonstrate a targeted approach to market regulation, and a commitment to achieving trust from its markets through work to increase accountability across all stakeholders. We will also look for a willingness to partner with the industry to raise standards.
Best front-to-back office integration
This category goes to the best solution that aligns the front, middle and back-office operations. The panel will look at how the solution streamlines the internal process while allowing firms to make better business decisions.
Best infrastructure provider
This category will be awarded to the firm that provides the most innovative infrastructure to the capital markets. All platforms and technologies will be considered for this award.
Best KYC/AML service
This category will be awards to the technology provider who not only illustrates the extent of its KYC/AML/CDD solution, but how its applicability to financial services firms’ mission to reduce financial crime by way of the tool being implemented in a live environment
Best market surveillance tool
Entries should incorporate real-time surveillance capabilities for both internal and external obligations, including pattern-recognition software and case-building capabilities.
Platforms should feature pre-trade (deal time) and post-trade compliance; support for a range of asset classes including derivatives; a trading blotter; FIX-enabled connectivity; and order generation and routing functions.
Best outsourcing provider
Entrants should offer multiple business development and engineering services and responsiveness to client demands, while meeting budgetary and time-to-market objectives for clients.
Best overall third-party technology provider
This award will go to a technology provider (firm) that illustrates the extent to which it has embraced innovative development techniques/operating models to deliver valuable products and services to its capital markets clients.
Best reconciliation platform
The winning product in this category would need to address the following: exception management, it should provide interfaces to widely-used matching engines, and it should support the automatic reconciliation of a large number of instruments, especially OTC derivatives.
Best research provider
This award goes to the research company that provides the most innovative and accurate research, going above and beyond the client's expectations.
Best risk management solution
Functions should include risk-based portfolio modelling; 'what if' analysis; stress testing; Monte Carlo simulation; and (ideally) the ability to provide VaR and NAV figures.
Best TCA solution
The panel is looking for a transaction-cost analysis (TCA) solution that supports multiple asset classes, a range of benchmarks in its analysis, the ability to assess venue as well as broker performance, and a granular focus on data and its presentation.
Best trading network
Entries should exhibit high levels of buy-side and sell-side penetration, be FIX-compatible, support large message volumes, and demonstrate operational resilience.
Please note that these categories can only be entered by financial services end-users (banks, brokers, asset managers and hedge funds).
Best client communication initiative
Entries should demonstrate their innovative and efficient approaches to communicate with clients, whether it is to facilitate accessible transparent information, or to ensure the delivery meets client expectations and business objectives.
Best cloud migration project
Cloud computing has reduced overall computing costs, but it has also added an extra layer of complexity to infrastructure management. This award is open to buy-side and sell-side firms, as well as exchanges, that can demonstrate the greatest return on investment through deploying an internal cloud or integrating one or more third-party cloud environments.
Best cross-asset trading initiative
Open to individual business units, entries in this category should focus on projects that have been live for at least six months. The judges are looking for creative responses to delivering cross-asset trading capabilities to institutional clients. The application of technical expertise and end-users' derived benefits should feature prominently in firms' entries.
Best IT initiative
This award goes to a firm that has undertaken an IT project or leveraged technology in a new or unique way that sets it apart from its competitors.
Best IT team
This award honors the technology team from a buy-side firm that successfully delivers the goods to its firm and clients. The winner will be the team that demonstrates a solid, end-to-end strategy to handle everything from risk management to compliance and data administration, while still providing innovative and cutting-edge trading solutions.
Best regulatory reporting initiative
As local, national and international regulations mount, firms need to upgrade their reporting infrastructure, not only to comply with rules already in place, but also to address those in the pipeline. This award will reflect the platform's reporting capabilities as well as its flexibility and scalability to meet new reporting environments.
Best use of alternative data
The award goes to the best application of alternative data. The winner demonstrates its first-rate tactic that turns alternative data into actionable business insights.
Best use of ML/Natural Language Processing
The winner of this category effectively exploits the potentials of machine learning and natural language processing across the business/operation units. The panel will look into how much value the technologies have brought to the firm, as well as its scalability and flexibility.
