Sham Arora

Sham is the Interim Global Head of Enterprise Technology and is responsible for group-wide shared technology capabilities, such as cloud, data, and central and end user infrastructure.

Sham is passionate about three main areas:

  1. Delivering client value with robust, secure and resilient technology solutions that are fit for the future.
  2. Innovating and striving to lead change through tribes of competence; championing tech experimentation through aXess Academy and aXess Labs, both created under his leadership.
  3. Building and fostering a culture of collaboration, empowerment, inclusion and learning with our diverse talent.

His strategic priorities include enablement of the Bank’s Cloud first strategy to facilitate the acceleration of cloud deployments in the Bank and the transformation of the Bank’s digital workplace. Sham also places a huge emphasis on the value of creating a diverse and inclusive culture in the Bank. He has been with Standard Chartered for more than 17 years and has held several leadership roles, before being appointed to his current role in 2021. Most recently, as CIO Foundation Services & Tech Strategy, he was responsible for enterprise wide technology strategy and the foundational elements of the Bank’s technology infrastructure. He also headed GBS India, Malaysia, China and Poland T&I teams helping to build an engineering culture, driving talent uplift through learning and aXess, and significantly upping employee engagement and collaboration in our tech centres.

Dr. Chen is a Portfolio Manager at PanAgora. In this role he is responsible for novel alpha research and model development in the Dynamic team and across the wider Equity group, and daily management of firm’s Dynamic portfolios. Dr. Chen is also responsible for leading the development of PanAgora’s ESG strategy, including alpha research, portfolio management, and model and product development. Dr. Chen’s research interests are in the areas of machine learning, ESG, and alternative datasets. Previously, he was a portfolio manager at PanAgora’s Stock Selector team.

Prior to joining PanAgora, Dr. Chen was a Portfolio Manager at BlackRock’s Scientific Active Equity (SAE) team, where his responsibilities include portfolio management and research into alpha insights for use across the entire SAE platform. While at SAE, Dr. Chen won “Signal of the Year” award for a signal he researched and developed. Prior to BlackRock, Dr. Chen worked at Google where he was a member of the team that managed Google’s fixed income investment portfolio and FX exposures. Dr. Chen started his career at Morgan Stanley in New York where he traded and managed a portfolio of exotic US rates derivatives. While at Morgan Stanley, Dr. Chen researched, developed and patented a framework that allowed for pricing of derivatives based on two rate curves with dynamic multiplicative spread, one of the first such models on the street.  

Dr. Chen graduated from the University of Illinois in 2005 with a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He has published in leading engineering and applied mathematics journals, and had been invited to talk at numerous conferences.

Paul Milon

Paul Milon joined BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) in January 2008 and has more than thirteen years of experience in the asset management industry. In his current position, he leads BNPP AM’s stewardship activities in Asia Pacific. This includes direct and collaborative corporate engagement, as well as working with policymakers on key issues relating to sustainable finance and investment. Paul works closely with Asian investment teams to better integrate environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) criteria in investment decisions, including through engagement with portfolio companies. He is the co-chair of the Asia Investor Group on Climate Change (AIGCC) Engagement & Policy working group.

Prior to that, Paul held various positions within BNP Paribas Asset Management in Hong Kong and Paris. As ESG Specialist, he successfully established our Sustainability Centre’s presence in Asia. Before that, he was a senior investment specialist within our Fundamental Active Equities teams. In this role, he oversaw the strong growth of BNPP AM’s Indian equities capability for international clients. Paul was also responsible for consultant relations in Asia, and launched and managed the award-winning BNPP AM Investment Academy in the region. Before relocating to Hong Kong, he worked as an ESG analyst in the Sustainability Research team in Paris.

Buy-side is a focused area of Chartis’s expansion and we are delighted to have Jay leading this area which is increasingly important for both our clients and the industry in general. Jay was most recently a Senior Principal at Finastra. Prior to this he spent 4 years as a Senior Analyst at Celent, 4 years as the Director of Capital Markets at HP, 5 years as a Research Director at Gartner and his first 8 years in industry as a Group Manager in fixed income IT at UBS.

Jay holds a BFA from Cooper Union, a BA from Saint Lawrence University and an MBA in Finance from NYU Stern School of Business. Additionally, Jay is Series 7 certified with FINRA.

Ellen Gentile is the data quality manager for the SMBC Americas Division of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. Ellen has over 20 years of experience in the financial services sector and has worked in various capacities for companies such as Cowan & Company, Morgan Stanley, Bank of America, Banc of America Securities and Pershing, LLC. As SMBC's data quality manager, Ellen works assiduously to establish and implement all facets of a comprehensive data quality program at the SMBC Americas division.

Prior to managing SMBC's data quality, Ellen championed the use of qualified data as a core enterprise resource supporting decision makers. To best deliver and monitor quality of service and information, Ellen established and set enterprise standards through operational quality scorecard products at Pershing, LLC. The quality based products she managed provided the much needed insight and transparency clients require to manage and grow their businesses.

Prior to that he was a product analyst at State Street Global Advisors. Mason graduated from St. Lawrence University with a BA in English Literature and Communications Arts.

By taking an Experience Driven Marketing approach and capturing how people come into contact with brands in real time MESH helps clients, like LG Electronics, to take quicker and smarter decisions about their investment.  Fiona is a Fellow of the Market Research Society, sits on the editorial advisory board for ESOMAR’s Research World magazine, a member of the Marketing Society and sits on the board of WIRe (Women in Research).  She has worked with Professor Hugh Wilson at Cranfield School of Management on a knowledge transfer partnership that was a finalist for the Innovate UK award in 2015.
