Paul Milon

Paul Milon joined BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) in January 2008 and has more than thirteen years of experience in the asset management industry. In his current position, he leads BNPP AM’s stewardship activities in Asia Pacific. This includes direct and collaborative corporate engagement, as well as working with policymakers on key issues relating to sustainable finance and investment. Paul works closely with Asian investment teams to better integrate environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) criteria in investment decisions, including through engagement with portfolio companies. He is the co-chair of the Asia Investor Group on Climate Change (AIGCC) Engagement & Policy working group.

Prior to that, Paul held various positions within BNP Paribas Asset Management in Hong Kong and Paris. As ESG Specialist, he successfully established our Sustainability Centre’s presence in Asia. Before that, he was a senior investment specialist within our Fundamental Active Equities teams. In this role, he oversaw the strong growth of BNPP AM’s Indian equities capability for international clients. Paul was also responsible for consultant relations in Asia, and launched and managed the award-winning BNPP AM Investment Academy in the region. Before relocating to Hong Kong, he worked as an ESG analyst in the Sustainability Research team in Paris.

Paul holds a Master’s in Management with a major in Entrepreneurship from the EDHEC Business School in France. He is a SASB FSA (Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting) Certificate holder.

Kamran M. Khan

Kamran Khan is Deutsche Bank’s Head of ESG for Asia Pacific, with responsibility for defining and executing the bank’s ESG strategy across all business divisions in the region. He is a member of the Global Sustainability Council of Deutsche Bank.

Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Mr. Khan established Infra-Tech Capital, an impact fund investing in companies utilizing technology to provide infrastructure services and achieve UN Sustainable Development Goals. He was also appointed by the Obama White House to serve as the head of global investments and operations at the US Millennium Challenge Corporation, where he managed a USD 10bn portfolio and led a USD 1.5-2bn annual investment program globally.

Previously, Mr. Khan held senior executive roles at the World Bank and helped establish the World Bank Group regional hub in Singapore, comprising the World Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Multilateral Insurance & Guarantee Agency (MIGA). Prior to his time at the World Bank, Mr. Khan worked on M&A transactions and advisory mandates at JP Morgan and LEK. He also served as a US Foreign Service Officer with the US Agency for International Development (USAID), where he led operations for the project finance and guarantees facility.

Mr. Khan served as an Advisor on Infrastructure Finance to APEC, ASEAN, and the G-20. He is a member of the Senior Advisory Board at Fudan University Fintech Centre in Shanghai with a mandate to advise on Belt and Road Initiative projects. He has also served on the Board of Advisors at a variety of market-leading companies using technology to achieve ESG goals. He is a frequent speaker at events such as World Economic Forum, ASEAN Summit, APEC Summit, and in major international media.

Mr. Khan holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and an MS in Applied Economics and Master of Government Administration from the University of Pennsylvania. He received his BS in Economics from George Mason University.

Prior to joining MFS in 2009, Mason was a product specialist for real estate equity strategies at The Tuckerman Group, where he was also responsible for ESG product development. Prior to that, he was a product analyst at State Street Global Advisors. Mason graduated from St. Lawrence University with a BA in English Literature and Communications Arts.

Mike Chen, PhD

Dr. Chen is the Head of Alternative Alpha Research at Robeco. In this role, he is responsible for leading the research and development of innovative alpha insights and solutions for use across Robeco. He started in this role in March 2022. Dr. Chen’s current research interests are in the areas of quant sustainability, machine learning/NLP, and alternative data, and has published a number of journal articles on these topics.

Previously, Dr. Chen was the Head of Sustainable Investments at PanAgora. In that role, he led the research and development of sustainable investment solutions across PanAgora, and the commercialization of PanAgora’s ESG offerings. In addition, he is responsible for model research and development in the Equity Division while participating in the daily management of the firm’s portfolios. While at PanAgora, Dr. Chen developed and applied for a patent for a framework to construct sustainable portfolios based on dual objectives of alpha and sustainability outperformance.

Prior to joining PanAgora, Dr. Chen was a Portfolio Manager at BlackRock’s Scientific Active Equity (SAE) team, where his responsibilities include portfolio management and research into alpha insights for use across the entire SAE platform. While at SAE, Dr. Chen won the “Signal of the Year” award for a signal he researched and developed.

Dr. Chen started his career at Morgan Stanley in New York where he traded and managed a portfolio of exotic US rates derivatives. While at Morgan Stanley, Dr. Chen researched, developed, and patented a framework that allowed for the pricing of derivatives based on two rate curves with dynamic multiplicative spread, one of the first such models on the street. 

Dr. Chen graduated from the University of Illinois in 2005 with a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. During graduate school, he published in leading academic engineering and applied mathematics journals and had been invited to talk at numerous academic and industry conferences.

Sham is the Global Head of Enterprise Technology and is responsible for group-wide shared technology capabilities, such as cloud, data, and central and end user infrastructure.

Sham is passionate about three main areas:

  1. Delivering client value with robust, secure and resilient technology solutions that are fit for the future.
  2. Innovating and striving to lead change through tribes of competence; championing tech experimentation through aXess Academy and aXess Labs, both created under his leadership.

He has been with Standard Chartered for more than 17 years and has held several leadership roles, before being appointed to his current role in 2021. Most recently, as CIO Foundation Services & Tech Strategy, he was responsible for enterprise wide technology strategy and the foundational elements of the Bank’s technology infrastructure. He also headed GBS India, Malaysia, China and Poland T&I teams helping to build an engineering culture, driving talent uplift through learning and aXess, and significantly upping employee engagement and collaboration in our tech centres.

I am the Chair of the Tech London Advocates Smart Cities Group,  a reviewer of grant/awards of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the IET, and the ACM. I am a Council Member of the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering Ambassadors, a Committee member of the Grace Hopper Celebration and the ABIE Awards, and I’ve served as ambassador for many technology/educational organisations.

My career includes +16 years working in engineering. I work at Google as a Data Practice Lead (AI/Machine Learning, Smart Analytics, and Data Management), and I am a Google AI Principles Ethics Fellow. I work on the Interplanetary Internet on cloud computing. My continuing academic work is at UCL and University of Oxford where I serve as an Honorary Associate Professor in Computer Science and a guest Lecturer, respectively.

I have received numerous awards and recognitions for my contributions to the industry and international science.  I am an active keynote speaker and an open-source contributor.

Since 2003 I’ve actively worked towards increasing the representation of people of all kinds in Engineering and Technology.

Cathy has over 17 years’ experience in the banking and finance industry spanning a breadth of roles from Treasury and Market Risk to being at the forefront of the future of finance as UnionBank’s Blockchain Center of Excellence Head. 

Prior to joining the Bank’s Fintech Group, Cathy gained experience through handling Market Risk and Statistical Analysis roles. She later joined the Treasury team wherein she stayed for over 12 years, eventually heading its Fixed Income (Indonesia and South Asia) and Derivatives Desk. 

Transitioning from traditional banking roles, Cathy currently leads her team which harnesses blockchain technology to prepare the Bank for the future token economy. Under her leadership, her team launched the award-winning BitBox, UnionBank’s Virtual Currency ATM- the first central bank compliant, bank-operated bitcoin ATM in the world.   

Cathy is also a certified Money Market and Foreign Exchange Trader and a licensed Fixed Income Salesperson.  

She graduated Statistics from the University of the Philippines – Diliman and is a candidate for Master of Science in Financial Engineering at De La Salle University.

He joined Deutsche Bank (DB) in 1998 as a Management Trainee. In his banking career, he has gained valuable cross-transaction banking and international experience in specialist and leadership roles in areas including working capital management, structured finance, risks, and funds and custody.

In his current role, Boon represents DB as a securities market and technology advocate on regulatory, market and digital changes. Previous to joining NatWest Andy was Analytics Lead in the Insights team at Aggreko, a team that won the Experian Data Excellence Award at the 2019 Lloyds Bank National Business Awards. His work at Aggreko on applying data science and machine learning to the optimisation of generator fleet servicing and predictive maintenance alerting also led to him winning the ‘Data Scientist of the Year’ award at the International Data Science Awards 2019. Her work has resulted in significant uplifting of security, incident management and resilience of the global digital infrastructure. She has advised the world’s largest financial services organisations and the fastest growing fin-tech companies on their cloud security strategies and digital transformation. 

Keyun is currently working on her second project on cybernomics - a new field in economics dedicated to the study of digital asset valuation and cyber risk measurement, tailored for the 4th Industrial Revolution. Her theories involve novel principles, laws and valuation models for digital assets, the backbone of our economy today. She was the first to academically propose a pair of risk units for measuring cyber risk, hekla and bitmort. The units were first published in the Journal of Computer & Security in 2016, the oldest journal in the field of cyber security. Her second textbook, “Digital Asset Valuation and Cyber Risk Measurement: Principles of Cybernomics”, has been published by Elsevier Economics in May 2019. 

Keyun holds a PhD in computer science and a diploma in art and design. She has a passion for trans-disciplinary innovation and design. Currently, Keyun is Head of Security, Risk & Compliance at Google Cloud. He is a sponsor of the company’s Executive Education program on Operations at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. He is also a member of the board of trustees of SciTech Scity, a technology district being developed by the Liberty Science Center and the city of Jersey City, N.J.

Before joining the bank in May 2015, Sumeet held various leadership positions for 24 years across Europe and the U.S. He worked for eight years in London, most recently as chief information officer for Global Banking & Markets at HSBC, where he was responsible for technology, data and shared operations teams with over 10,000 employees across Europe, Asia and the Americas. He also served in a business role as the global head of One HSBC Securities and Wealth, and in various global markets CIO and front-line roles across fixed income, derivatives, risk and electronic trading.
Sumeet began his career with technology start-ups and consulting in New York, leading financial innovations across both buy- and sell-side firms, including asset management and hedge funds. Clients included Goldman, Swiss Bank, Credit Suisse First Boston, Republic, Bridgewater, Wasserstein Perella and Omega Advisors.

In 2014, Sumeet’s organization received Euromoney’s Best Wholesale Banking Technology Innovation award. Previous accolades include the American Financial Technology Awards (Waters) and the European Banking Technology Awards. Sumeet holds a master’s degree in management, master’s degree in technology and bachelor’s degree in computer science from Stony Brook University, with executive education from the Ross School, IMD Business School in Lausanne and London Business School.
