The story
1985 to 2020
It all started with a few newsletters and a monthly technology magazine. In 1985 IMD was launched followed by Sell Side Technology and Buy Side Technology in 1987. All printed weekly, these three publications sent out the latest news covering the technology and data in the capital markets space. In addition, on a monthly basis Waters magazine brought the market the full length features covering the space. To complete the set, after following the market trends, Inside Reference Data was launched in 2006.
To complement these publications each brand ran their own events to facilitate a time and place to make face to face connections in the market, focusing on market data, reference data, buy-side technology and sell-side technology independently.
Fast-forward to 2010, the brands all came together online to create waterstechnology.com. With multiple landing pages, 7 different tiered subscription offerings, 4 separate editorial teams and 10 global events annually, it was hard for the audience to understand and keep on top of the ever-changing data and technology landscape.
With the market evolving the way it has, we found that we were unable to just cover data topics without referencing the technology that enabled businesses to use that data. We were also unable to focus on technology without touching on the data that is used and manipulated in that technology.
And here we are today, combining all our efforts. Technology is the strong foundation of a successful organization and data is the blood that flows through it. We have one site, one editorial team and focused events covering data and technology for capital markets all around the world.
