Laura Barrowman is the global Group Chief Technology Officer and Group Chief Information Security Officer at Credit Suisse, based in London. Laura joined Credit Suisse First Boston in September 1994 and during her 24-year tenure, has held many leadership positions in the various IT organisations. Throughout her career at Credit Suisse, Laura has passionately championed and empowered females through leading women’s groups, such as the IT Women’s Council. She is also very committed to the advancement and globalization of STEM programs.

Joerg Guenther

Chief information officer C&IS and chief technology officer EMEA

Joerg Guenther has been the Chief Information Officer for Corporate and Institutional Services at Northern Trust since February 2018. He also serves as Chief Technology Officer EMEA, a role he took on in June 2016.

Joerg spent the first nine years of his career as developer, data modeler, project manager and IT manager with Zurich Cantonal Bank where he was promoted to Vice President. During three years in various executive consulting roles, he successfully managed large scale international projects for UBS, Credit Suisse, the Swiss Funds Association, as well as Zurich Financial Services.

In 2001 he moved to New York and joined KPMG Consulting as manager in the financial services division before he took a position with Julius Baer North America as Head of IT and later Chief Information Officer. In his 12-year tenure with Julius Baer (later known as Artio Global) he successfully transformed Information Technology and established close business alignment enabling all investment strategies from Fixed Income (High Yield, High Grade, Hedge Funds) to U.S. and International Equity to grow and diversify the product lineup as well as their distribution channels. Under Joerg’s technology leadership, the company was able to grow assets under management from 2 billion dollars to 75 billion dollars. Joerg played a key part in several mergers and acquisitions as well as the Initial Public Offering preceded by the establishment of the Sarbanes Oxley control framework for the public company.

Joerg joined Northern Trust in 2012, where he was initially responsible for Hedge Funds Services Technology, overseeing the Omnium platform and its related functions. He established a Centre of Excellence organization with a follow-the-sun rotation that entails staff across the globe. In 2014, Global Derivatives Technology was added to Joerg’s responsibilities. Joerg took over the role as Chief Technology Officer EMEA as of June 1, 2016 where he also was responsible for Global Fund Accounting and Transfer Agency Technology. During that time he drove transformation, innovation and business expansion and played a key role in the UBS Fund Administration acquisition as well as the launch of Northern Trust’s new Private Equity Blockchain offering. In February 2018, Joerg was appointed Chief Information Officer for our Corporate and Institutional Services business globally.

Born and raised in Switzerland, Joerg holds a Swiss Federal Certificate in IT Project Management and the equivalent of a Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems.

Stephane Malrait

Global head of market structure and innovation for financial markets

Stéphane Malrait is Managing Director, Global Head of Market Structure and Innovation for Financial Markets, at ING Bank. Stephane is responsible for following the market structure and industry challenges impacting the financial market industry. He is leading innovation activities internal to ING and also external partnerships and developments with Fintech companies. He actively contributes to industry working groups to represent ING Bank.

Stéphane joined ING in 2015 to lead the bank e-commerce initiatives across all financial market products and to develop on the financial market group’s cross-asset eCommerce strategy. Before joining ING, Stephane spent eight years at Société Générale, where he was Global Head of FIC eCommerce, creating an eCommerce business covering credit, rates, money market, emerging market, and FX. Prior to this, Stéphane worked at JPMorgan Chase for ten years, serving in different roles in Global FX E-Commerce Business Management and cross-asset eCommerce technology and was based in London and New York.

Stephane has a strong background in financial markets and understands the need for continued technological development to drive positive change in trading and market structure workflows. He is leading ING's Financial Market Innovation strategy and also working on the implementation of financial regulations that will impact the client trading activities and transform how the trading floor operates.

Stephane is also a board member for several Fintech market initiatives and trading associations. Since 2005 he has been active with the ACI Financial Market Association - an international non-profit organisation that represents the interests of market professionals in foreign exchange and money markets. Here, he has chaired the ACI FX Committee, representing the views of professionals in the FX sector. He is also an active member of the ECB FX contact group working on the BIS Global FX code of conduct working groups.

Jiahao Sun

Recognised by the UK Home Office as an outstanding expert in Deep Learning and Artificial Intelligence field, Jiahao was entitled UK's Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) visa, which allows him to work, study, or build startups freely in the UK after graduation.

In Jiahao's early career, he co-founded UiiTech Ltd., an Artificial Intelligence start-up aiming to reinvent digital marketing industry. He was also the Chief Data Scientist at TypeScore (a FinTech company focusing on credit scoring) before joining Royal Bank of Canada.

Jiahao holds an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Oxford and has a strong foundation in financial mathematics.

Jiahao is now the lead A.I. engineer of RBC WM's innovation lab, and is working on innovative A.I. and DL solutions for RBC Wealth Management's global business lines.

A senior executive focused on leveraging data and digital to drive strategic change, Koley Corte is currently Senior Vice President and Global Head of Business Transformation at AllianceBernstein focused on developing transformative growth strategies for next generation institutional and retail distribution.  Koley’s areas of current focus include sales enablement, demand generation, robotics and automation, predictive analytics and new channel development. 

Prior to joining AB, Koley was at Reed Elsevier (RELX) where she served as Senior Vice President and Head of Digital, Innovation and Customer Acquisition Strategies, Americas Region for Reed Exhibitions (RX).  Other leadership roles Koley has held include Vice President, Head of Market & Competitive Strategy and Integrated Campaign Management at TIAA, where she led teams responsible for developing the environmental backdrop with insights and implications for revenue growth and diversification strategies, the rebrand and large-scale external communication initiatives, including complex product redesigns.  Previously, Koley held progressive leadership roles at American International Group (AIG).  

Koley received her MBA with distinction from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University, with a concentration in Finance, Management, and International Business, and her B.A. cum laude in Economics and Psychology from Brandeis.

Suren works as a Strategy & Innovation lead within the UK CEO office at Credit Suisse, he works closely with the Global Markets and Private Banking Businesses on the growth, performance and control of their businesses. He leads Credit Suisse’s engagement with Fintechs and the wider ecosystems in the UK.

He has over 18 years of experience working within financial markets, at Tier 1 Investment Banks, and as a Management Consultant. His particular focus areas include: Corporate Strategy & Innovation, Product Development and restructuring businesses to drive growth. 

Suren’s passion for technology and entrepreneurship started early; a BSc in Neuroscience from King’s College London and MSc in eCommerce led him to develop an interest in how technology innovation changes human behaviour.

Martin Toyer joined Numerix in January of 2017 as Chief Technology Officer. He has dedicated his career to developing technology solutions and risk tools for the financial industry. Prior to joining Numerix, Martin was the founder and CTO of TFG Financial Systems, which provided institutional quality platforms for cross-asset portfolio and real time risk management to hedge funds, asset managers, and banks. Previously, Martin was a manager of a team of developers at a tier 1 investment bank, where he was responsible for real time pricing of European bonds and interest rate swaps, in addition to developing the risk analytics and systems used within the bank’s global risk management architecture. He holds a Mathematics degree from Brasenose College, Oxford University.
